Neon Apparel versus DJ Paris Hilton

If you follow my blog, you may have picked up on the celebrity theme. I love celebrities. I hate celebrities. I love to hate celebrities. It’s a vicious cycle.

When I’m out of ideas, I have an old stand-by I like to write about—I’m talking pre-Kardashian family. I’m not a fan of guessing games, so I’ll tell you straight up: it’s like Paris Hilton, duh. Unfortunately, my material is not “Be Dazzled” appropriate, but being that it’s mid-2012, you’ve probably heard it all anyway.

However, although it’s a slow news week, this time I actually do have a reason for referencing Hilton. I think all of us could sum up her accomplishments in 30 seconds—singer (if one Auto-Tune enhanced single counts), reality TV star, umm … movie star, designer—and now add DJ to the list. DJ as in disc jockey, that is.

Another sign of the apocalypse? Perhaps, music fans. But her outfit choice for her DJ debut is what’s making headlines. Some speculate that her choice of a “jewel-embellished basque with a pair of tights and dominatrix-style gloves” were deliberately chosen to detract from the music. But, one fashion faux pas wasn’t enough for the heiress. She went through a series of costume changes throughout her set (click here for more). Aside from garish, tacky and gaudy (not the good kind of gaudy—yes, there is a good kind), “black” was the theme of the night. Very disappointing considering this is my favorite color and she’s making a joke out of it much like herself. Is it even possible for black to look bad?

However, this is good news for those in the promotional apparel field. While black always will be a classic staple in everyone’s closets, neon seems to be where it’s at. Hilton occasionally incorporates neon pieces into her general wardrobe—sometimes successfully, other times not so much (kind of like with everything she does). So here are some cool neon looks to present to your customers so they DON’T look like Paris Hilton. You’re welcome.

Neon Orange Boyfriend Tank from Boxercraft

Neon Burnout Cozy Racer Tank from Alternative Apparel

Anvil Adult Garment-Dyed Neon Tee from Atlantic Coast Cotton

Neon Sunglasses from Evans Manufacturing

Neon Deluxe Polyester Twill Gray Undervisor Solid Color Low Profile Pro Style Mesh Back Cap from Otto International Inc.

(Editor’s Note: To answer my above question, black never looks bad … unless it’s being worn by Paris Hilton.)
